O antigo líder dos Pulp foi ontem (13/11/09) homenageado pela Sheffield Hallam University. Jarvis Cocker, que actuou em Portugal recentemente, no Festival de Paredes de Coura, afirmou que a universidade o ajudou a começar a carreira de duas formas: como músico e depois como artista.

"If you had a song with a swollen chorus, or a varicose verse, or if you need a little bit of help I could try and heal your song for you".
"Sometimes people call it the university of life, the only trouble with the university of life is the graduation when you've checked out, so it's nice to actually have a graduation whilst I'm still here to enjoy it".
"It's a great honour to be given this, especially in my home town."
